Ord Valley Muster
A black-tie dinner for 600 guests on the banks of the Ord River is one of many highlights of the Ord Valley Muster held each year in Kununurra in WA’s Kimberley. The action-packed program for the nine-day event includes a country rodeo, rugby matches, indigenous food, culture and dance, a challenging bike ride, and what’s billed as the the district’s biggest party, the Aviair HeliSpirit Kimberley Moon Experience, an outdoor concert that attracts more than 3500 people.
Boyup Brook Country Music Festival
Now in its 33rd year, the Boyup Brook Country Music Festival transforms the usually sleepy town in WA’s south-west for a festive February weekend. This year’s talent line-up is headed by the McClymonts and also includes Travis Collings, Codee-Lee, Hussy Hicks and Graham Rodger. As well as non-stop music, the event includes a street carnival, markets, food stalls, country music awards, an art show, ute and truck muster and bush poetry recitals.
Perth International Arts Festival
Feb 9 – Mar 4
Founded in 1953 by The University of Western Australia, the Perth International Arts Festival is the longest running international arts festival in Australia and Western Australia’s premier cultural event. Musical highlights of this year’s PIAF include UK hip-hop maestro Dizzee Rascal, American piano pop maverick Ben Folds, and Catalan maestro Jordi Savall and his extraordinary ensemble of early music specialists at the Perth Concert Hall. The Tartan Fleck
Celebrate the tartan in your DNA and the Scottish heritage of the South West Capes of Western Australia with the Tartan Fleck Art Exhibition at the Margaret River Cultural Centre. The exhibition is an international collaboration between
12 local artists and wineries and an artisan paper maker from Scotland. Paper workshops, kilt and sporran displays and artist lunches will run throughout the exhibition, which kicks off with a pipes and drums night on November 3.
Red Bull Lighthouse to Leighton
Starting at Phillip Point Rottnest, the longest kite surfing event of its kind will make its way across the Indian Ocean and the Gage Roads channel, finishing at Leighton Beach in North Fremantle.
The RAC Christmas Pageant
Perth’s Christmas spirit will bloom in December when the RAC Christmas Pageant rolls through town. There will be live music, floats and of course, Santa and his reindeer. Starting at 7:30pm, the pageant make its way from the corner of William St and St Georges Tce and make its way down St Georges Tce to Ozone Reserve.
Manjimup Cherry Harmony Festival
This year marks the 15th anniversary of the festival, hosted in the heart of cherry country in Western Australia. On the day you’ll have the chance to meet local producers, taste their products and see cooking demonstrations. City of Perth Symphony in the City
The West Australian Symphony Orchestra will put on a show at the outdoor concert that has become a staple for summer entertainment in Perth. For more information or to book tickets, visit the website below.
Join a night of action-packed entertainment with bull and bronc riding and barrel racing in Dunsborough. With live entertainment and food and drink available throughout the event, this is a perfect outing with family or friends. Visitors can give bull riding a go by jumping in the saddle of a mechanical bucking bull that will be available on the night. Camping is available, but there are limited spaces and buying tickets in advance is recommended.
Northbridge Piazza Free Flicks for Kids
Watching Christmas movies are one of Australia’s favourite pastimes. Grab a beanbag, pack some popcorn and head down to Northbridge Piazza for free Christmas movies on December 17 and 24. Screening Arthur Christmas and Elf, the movies provide great entertainment for the whole family.
